Occupy Atlanta Meets the Congo on Arab Spring Anniversary
The #D17 event marking the 1st anniversary of Bouazizi’s sacrifice in Tunisia that started the Arab Spring and the Occupy movement was celebrated by Occupy Atlanta on December 17th. The revolutionary march that was organized included a family that had brought colorful and well designed signs. “If You’re Hungry, Eat a Banker”. At the Martin Luther King Federal Building we ran accross a US marshal that tried to intimidate us with the hope of putting an end to the manifestation but Rebecca, seen in the picture with the man, had no problem convincing him of the absurdity of his behavior toward us.
Later, when arrived at the CNN studios, we met protesters from the Congo. Occupy Atlanta’s drums and the congolese tamtams joined their rythms for a great concert. The march ended at Woodruf/Troy Davis where protesters from the congolese manifestation joined Wall Street occupiers for more dancing and for free food served at the park.
